  — Event Store

The Vector torpedo is an explosive weapon. It was available in the event Countermeasures, later its blueprint and built variants of it was available in riots and feature events before being added as a blueprint, its blueprints can be found by defeating level 30-55 VSec fleets.

Vector torpedoes can be recognised firing missiles with medium speed that change their trajectory to pursue a moving target. They leave an orange rocket trail behind and fire in volleys of two. They are very common weapons on battleships among mid level and high level players.

Strategy and Setup

Advantages:

The Vector torpedo inflicts moderate damage comparable to a stronger Hydra missile. It never misses and is considered a long range weapon making it an excellent weapon of choice for battleships because of its range and homing abilities. Its large area of damage can be further enhanced with antimatter warheads or volatile fuel. It would also be beneficial to pair the torpedo with a stasis weapon, like the NET torpedo and volatile fuel, if you are using it in fleet vs. fleet.

Enemy warships with impaired movement have a much tougher time pursuing ships equipped with Vector torpedoes and entering there minimum range where it cannot fire. Vector torpedoes particularly synergizes well with the NET torpedo, as it has a similar range and the same speed, and it would greatly benefit from the AM Warheads boost or volatile fuel.

Vector torpedoes have no spread and are not affected by sweep launcher.

Disadvantages:

The Vector torpedo has a comparatively average firepower in comparison to other weapons. Its minimum range greatly reduces its effectiveness at short-medium range, making battleships even less capable of warding off cutters.

Trivia

  • The Vector torpedo fires twice with a short delay in between, before taking a lengthy reload time.
  • The Vector torpedo was buffed during the 27th of January patch, increasing its tracking time from three seconds to five seconds, reducing its minimal range to just 2,000 metres and overall reducing mass requirements.
  • Vector torpedoes used to be able to unblockable, in that they passed through ships in their way, rather than colliding and instead, hit their targets.
