The Vector Torpedo is a guided Explosive weapon with long range, commonly used in medium-level combat.

It fires two homing torpedoes one by one that ignore any obstacles in the way and inflict a medium-sized explosion.

Strategy and Setup

Advantages

Vector Torpedoes have very long range and high accuracy, enabling ships equipped with this weapon to destroy most enemies without taking a single hit.

Their firepower can be increased by damaging multiple enemies at once with their AoE, which can be boosted by specials such as AM Warheads and Volatile Fuel.

Their homing ability combined with relatively high damage per shot can instantly destroy a group of squadrons.

Disadvantages

Vector Torpedos deal low damage but are quite massive, and are thus outperformed by weapons that only have a slight range disadvantage such as Aurora Rays boosted by Focused Optics V. They are directly outclassed by Polaron Rays with the same range booster.

Vector Torpedos also have a sizable minimum range, allowing rapid ships and squadrons to close in and hide inside it while firing at your ships.

Trivia

  • The Vector Torpedo originally had 3 seconds of tracking time, a minimum range of 3,000 m and a mass requirement of 508/714/1,060 t. It was greatly buffed due to its unpopularity and now has 5 seconds of tracking time, making this weapon almost fully-guided instead of being "semi-guided".
