General
The Taipan Cutter is a mid level, tier three Miner Rebellion hull of Miner Rebellion origin. It can be built by finding eight blueprint pieces dropped level 27-33 VEGA cargo fleets.
They are effective ships at mid level combat when they have been upgraded to MK IV if they are fighting battleships or damaged fleets. They are rather common amongst low level and mid level players because of their short build time, and ease to procure crafting materials for it.
Strategy and Setup
Taipan cutters are the weakest cutters available, like all cutters, they have a narrow firing range but a very high forward speed. They have slow strafing speeds and moderate rotation speed. However, the rotation speed is commonly viewed as less than it is - Cutters have a higher base rotation speed than all but frigates and corvettes.
Because of the nature of the their manoeuvrability, they are exclusively useful only in PvP scenarios. Build these only if you intend to kill other players or to protect yourself.
Because of the cutters high speed, they are able to escape most fleets pursuing it with the exception of other cutters.
Taipan cutters are most effective when they are upgraded to MK IV.
Advantages:
Taipan cutters are the fastest to build of all cutters and effective at destroying battleships when upgraded to MK IV and equipped correctly. They are fast, and are durable in combat, but not not as durable as Revelation cruisers.
Taipan cutters can be equipped to have more armour than Gharial cutters, the superior VEGA Corporations cutter because of an extra armour slot.
Crafting materials are relatively easy to obtain.
While hunting for the blueprint is difficult, as in all cases, the Taipan blueprint can be obtained by attacking the readily level 27 rebel cargo fleets, and thus can be unlocked long before the player actually possesses the capacity to construct it.
Disadvantages:
Cutters have a narrow range and oriented for direct close range combat. They rarely emerge from a battle unscathed, they usually take significant damage fighting any fleet, even battleships.
Players require a level 9 ship factory to produce Taipan cutters.
Hunting for blueprints is an arduous task.
Taipan cutters are comparatively light weight with many other ships and are too weak when fighting against stronger warships higher up in tier. This is especially true as even a fleet of MK IV Taipan cutters may struggle to defeat a fleet of Zeal battleships and in the event they are victorious, they usually suffer grave damages.
SETUP
Taipan cutters should be oriented for pursuing and destroying weakened fleets or hunting battleships. They should be upgraded to MK IV. Common weapons to use are Aurora rays, Burst rays and Thermal beams.
It is strongly recommended to equip a Fusion thruster.
Spectral shields V or Metaphase shield III are most ideal.
Because of the high armour typical on a Taipan cutter, placing a damage resistor is worth your Blood Amber.

- Like all cutters, the Taipan cutter is named after a reptile. The Taipan is very fast and one of the most deadly known snakes.
- Some players have jokingly nicknamed the Taipan Cutter the "Tampon" Cutter.
