The Spectre Squadron is a Squadron armed with Projectile weapons. It was available in the event Nemesis. They have a distinctive ship profile, with a more aggressive appearance. They leave behind white engine trails. They are only seen on Dominion carriers and most players prefer these squadrons over all other ones they have as options. (unless they have the Ranger Swarm)
Strategy and SetupEdit
In comparison to other Bomber squadrons, the most popular squadron, they are lighter and have a higher damage output, able to inflict damage to their targets more gravely in a shorter amount of time. Their shield bypass ensures that the damage they inflict permanently damages their targets armor, debilitating them until they retreat and repair.
They are particular good against Iron Star Company ships that equip Skirmish armor and given their weapon type, there are minimal ships equipped with the appropriate resistor, ensuring that this squadron will inflict maximum amount of damage. They are quite fast, almost as fast as Fighter squadrons and can close in on their targets quickly. A distinctive advantage is that they split up before closing in on their targets, so they being destroyed in groups like all other squadrons from explosive weapons.
Due to their unique attack pattern, they can be combined with normal squadrons to outmaneuver anti-squadron fire and get through to damage the target ships anyway.
They can only be equipped on the Dominion carrier, meaning they are completely useless without a Dominion carrier.
Due to the fact the squadron split up and tend to sweep in from the sides, it can make it fairly difficult to destroy battleship fleets with weapons such as Aurora ray, ECHO ray or Manifold missiles. Their flight patterns are not the same, but they are similar in some aspects to alien squadrons, sharing similar weaknesses.
- They are rather unique with their AI, splitting up before closing in on their targets. A first of its kind - though notably similar to one of the alien squadrons/swarms.
