Strategy and Setup
The obvious main advantage to the Shockwave Shield is its ability to resist 90% of all explosive type damage. This helps greatly against weapons like the SICO Missile, Vector Torpedo, or Fusion Torpedo which all are able to decimate your hull quickly.
It also isn't very heavy but not very light at the same time, same goes with energy capacity. Thus, its a good choice if you wish to stay mass efficient while still being able to defend.
However, due to only having a 90% resistance against explosive weapons, weapons like the Polaron Ray, Thermal Beam, or the Gladius Driver cannot be fully resisted thus your hull and shield will deplete very quickly when fighting them.
Though, once you get the Metaphase Shield III the 3 Miner Rebellion shields become extremely useless due to how powerful the Metaphase is in terms of Shields.
Either Spectral Shields or Shockwave Shields should be equipped in PvP and always levels IV and V on your hull due to how important shields are in the lower regions.
Usually 1 shield hulls should equip level V, while double shielded hulls should try to equip dual level V or a level V and a level IV.
- Before the rise of the Metaphase Shield and other explosive weapons, this shield was considered extremely bad as energy and projectile weapons were heavily used.
- Its easy to tell, but the base counterpart to the Shield is the Shockwave Field.
- Ships equipped with this glow with a red+orange color, this can make it hard to distinguish against the Metaphase Shield.
