Strategy and Setup
Shockwave Armor is slightly more efficient than Zynthium against Explosive weapons. This makes them suitable for battleships against other battleships because many use Explosive-based weapons such as the Vector Torpedo, Arc Missile and NET Torpedo. They are also useful in brawls that involve Manifold Missiles, one of the strongest weapons before the debut of the Xeno Division, and base rushes which often get fired upon by SICO Missile Turrets. Note that this extra resistance does not cost you additional repair time.
Considering equal damage taken from Energy, Explosive and Kinetic sources, Shockwave Armor is actually less mass-efficient than Zynthium. It only works if you specialize your ships to only fight against certain types of targets.
To add insult to injury, the XP per health for Shockwave Armor is also greater, setting your fleet up to be attacked by stronger ships.
