The longbow destroyer is the first destroyer-class ship you are able to construct. It is typically the first ship you will ever use for a base incursion on another player, due to the built-in 150% range boost allowing projectile and explosive weapons to achieve significantly longer ranges then normal.
When marked up the ship has it's firepower against cruisers doubled, giving it some usefulness in lower-level PvP. The ship has also found use as an instant fleet for civil wars, however the broadsword outperforms it in this regard.
Weaknesses:fairly large zero ground, lack of proximity detonation
The wave longbow is a civil war build designed to utilize the hulls expendability, while utilizing the firepower of a wave driver to it's maximum potential. The hull can deliver quite a painful blow with the wave drivers phasing and most opponents at the level range will suffer heavy damage.
== The Thermal Longbow ==
Strengths:Decent firepower, good range, never misses
Weaknesses:Can be out-ranged by most other weapons on destroyers.
The thermal longbow is a later-game build for the longbow to be used primarily in the civil war. It has great range when bearing focused optic V, and never misses it's target, a powerful foe. Plus it comes with instant repair. It's primary vulnerability is gladius drivers and longer-ranged energy weapons such as impulse beams or ECHO Rays.
== The Polaron Longbow ==
Strengths:Ok firepower, great range, never misses
Weaknesses:Can usually be outperformed by opposing energy weapons in terms of damage per second
The Polaron Longbow is a long-range energy build primarily geared towards FvF and Civil Wars. It utilizes the long-range of the polaron ray to deal damage to opposing fleets without repercussion. Unfortunately it's performance lacks compared to most other energy weapons in terms of damage.
== The ECHO Longbow ==
Strengths:Decent firepower, excellent range, never misses, bounces
Weaknesses:Can be easily outperformed by faster firing weapons
The ECHO Longbow is a long-range energy build that is best suited for civil wars. The bounce feature allows this build to deal heavy damage to most other instant fleets used during them. It however falls quickly to weapons that can fire faster or simply deal more damage quicker.
== The R.P Longbow ==
Strengths:Excellent range, never misses, bounces
Weaknesses:Can still be outperformed by some energy weapons, but the diversity is lessened
The Repeating Polaron Longbow is arguably the best energy build possible for the longbow to have. It combines the best aspects of both the Polaron and the ECHO Ray into one potent package. Plus with the increased damage it has less outperformance counters.
Weaknesses:Massive zero ground, very ineffective in FvF
The mass longbow is an extremely powerful basing build for the longbow, allowing a low level fleet of longbows to destroy just about any base within the typical level range longbows can achieve. The downside is a lack of great performance in FvF, as the massive blind spot makes them easy to destroy.
== The Gauss Longbow ==
Strengths:Very long range, good firepower
Weaknesses:Moderately large zero ground limits usefulness in FvF
The gauss longbow is a powerful build utilized specifically for basing. The long range that the gauss driver provides allows this ship to achieve some significant range and snipe combat modules from a safe distance.
However, the build is not effective in FvF due to the presence of a fairly large zero ground.
== The Rail Longbow ==
Strengths:Decent range, ok firepower
Weaknesses:Fairly large zero ground and only average firepower
The rail longbow acts as a less effective variation of the gauss longbow for those that have not researched the appropriate tier of the gauss driver. It can do everything the gauss does, but with reduced range it cannot do it as well.
Strengths:Decent firepower, very good range, no zero ground, decent against low-level bases
Weaknesses:Can be out-ranged by certain opposition and doesn't last long up close
The hex longbow is generally the best early build you can have for this hull, the HEX missile provides decent firepower with a good range and splash, making it a potent early-game farming ship.
While other builds can be equipped to specialize in basing, this build is capable of fighting in FvF, given it's lack of a zero ground and decent firepower. However, facing anything above tier 1 ships are likely to end badly.
== The Scatter Longbow ==
Strengths:Ok range, decent firepower, good against bases
Weaknesses:Range is lower then the HEX missiles
The scatter longbow is basically the HEX longbow, but with a very slight kick-up in damage and a reduced range. It can still perform the same role as the HEX longbow, but not as effectively.
