Frigates are one of six main hull types. They are light weight and agile ships, they perform better in close and medium range combat and their survival depends on avoiding enemy fire and outmaneuvering opponents. Most frigates are named after birds, though the tier 5 frigates are named after types of storms.
They possess a moderate firiing arc. They have the highest strafing and rotation speed by default. In mid level and high level battles, upgrading them through the crafting system grants them massive damage bonus to destroyers and battleships.
Frigates of Mk IV and up gain an additional special slot, potentially making them the highest capacity cargo haulers in the game aside from Carriers and Flagships.
