Boosted Pulse Ray

Boosted Pulse Ray I, II, and III, Respectively. They look identical to the Pulse Ray

General

The Boosted Pulse Ray is an energy weapon that was available in the Alien Mobilization event. Technically, it is a direct upgrade over the Pulse ray, due to having an innate shield damage bonus similar to that of the Aurora ray, as well as dealing greater damage at level III.

Strategy and Setup

Advantages

The Boosted Pulse ray comes with an innate shield damage bonus of 25%, allowing this weapon to fell enemy shields much faster. It also deals greater damage then Pulse ray V at level III, allowing it to be more lethal in combat compared to it's default predecessor.

They are relatively faster to refit onto ships.

Disadvantages

The Boosted Pulse ray, however, has a very unorthodox mass - the damage to mass ratio is very poor on this weapon and generally you won't be able to fit it on lower tier ships. The weapon itself, being a Pulse ray, is also generally restricted to lower level combat due to its short range and poor damage. The weapon is typically outclassed by the superior Disruptor ray, which has a much greater damage output and firing speed.

It's also worth noting these weapons are only available during the Alien Mobilization, which renders lower level players unable to get them due to the power of hive fleets. High level players have no use for this weapon as it is outclassed by better weapons in every possible way.

To add insult to injury, they are limited in number. Unlike blueprints, players cannot equip them limitless on their ships, the number they can equip depends on the amount of Boosted Pulse ray items they have. They are also incredibly hard to get as the Hive fleets are extremely hard on higher levels and still do massive damage on lower level fleets with the wrong setup or strategy. Unlike credits, they can be re-used but require a refit time.

Trivia
