The Beam Capacitors is a special for beam-type energy weapons that has been developed by the Xeno Division. Its counterpart for alien weapons, the Xeno Beam Capacitors, was subsequently released in Alien Decimation.
Strategy and Setup
Its range bonus of 1,200m on level III is almost the same as Focused Optics V which has a 1,250m range bonus. This can make kiting with the beam weapon alot easier, as its range boosts can barely out range weapons like the Manifold Missile and can make it easier fighting Vector Torpedo fleets on a battleship.
It also reduces the charge time of the beam weapon. This means kiting with battleships can be alot more efficient as less time is wasted charging which means you will lose less speed strafing back, which was a problem with beam weapons. With beams on other hulls it can deliver the alpha damage much quicker which leaves the enemy less time to fire.
It also adds very little weight, unlike Focused Optics V which adds almost 51% mass to your hull. This means you can outfit more weapons and armor into your hull.
However, the special was made to work very well with beam weapons. The Impulse Beam is not very common among Xeno hulls leaving only the Rupture Beam and its variants to really benefit from it. This makes it almost exclusively for the Rupture Beam and co. making it almost pointless if you do not have it.
- This special is the first special to receive a Xeno Variant.
- This is the first special to reduce the charge time of a beam weapon.
